The Five Best Maserati GT Models of All Time

Maserati is renowned for building cars that not only turn heads like a whirlwind but make you feel as if you’ve never driven before. They look exquisite, handle unlike almost anything else on the road, and carry a certain flair that elevates them above the ordinary.
  • 1. GranTurismo MC
The purest racing version of the GranTurismo, the MC was originally developed as the competition variant of the GranTurismo S. Its success on track and the clamoring interest from private buyers led Maserati to offer it for sale. Under the hood sits a V8 with over 450 hp, paired with larger brakes and 18-inch tires. Weight was stripped out for maximum performance, and the ride height was lowered for better cornering control. Aside from these upgrades, it remains largely the same car as the GT S. Built only from 2009 to 2010, the MC captures Maserati’s racing spirit in its rawest form.
  • 2. GranTurismo MC Stradale
Since its debut in 2011, the MC Stradale has been the street-legal evolution of the MC. It boasts an enormous engine that pushes top speed to around 300 km/h and rockets from 0–100 km/h in under four seconds—enough to give you a serious adrenaline jolt. Yet Maserati didn’t skimp on luxury: the cockpit is fully outfitted like a high-end road car, complete with supportive racing seats. Its paint finish is virtually indestructible, earning comparisons to diamonds for sheer toughness.
  • 3. GranTurismo S
Produced from 2008 to 2012, the GranTurismo S delivers intense looks and performance in almost any driving situation. It’s powered by a 4.7-liter V8 and features sport-tuned suspension and steering. Despite its capabilities, it remains surprisingly easy to drive even at the limit. Inside, you’d never guess it’s a true performance car—luxury abounds in every detail. Though it was only in production for about six years, the GranTurismo S remains immensely popular among buyers.
  • 4. GranTurismo
Unquestionably the most approachable model in the lineup, the base GranTurismo launched in 2007 and is still going strong. Its 385-hp V8 may be the entry point, but it delivers plenty of punch. Ride quality leans more toward a sophisticated family sedan than a razor-sharp sports car, making it comfortable for daily use. It’s easy to see why so many drivers choose this model—and it’s also more affordable to buy and insure than its higher-powered siblings.
  • 5. GranTurismo Convertible (Cabriolet)
Don’t be fooled by the name: the GranTurismo Cabriolet is every bit a true GranTurismo. Essentially a drop-top version of the GranTurismo S, it offers all the performance and luxury of that model, plus an electronically retractable roof. A relatively recent addition to the lineup, it shows no signs of slowing down. With its open-air appeal, the Cabriolet is a showstopper in its own right—and a favorite among Maserati enthusiasts.
