Today owned by Volkswagen, Bentley owes much of its legacy to the Bentley S2 Cabriolet, a model that made automotive history (see also the Bentley S1). W.O. Bentley was cousins with Charles Rolls, and they agreed to build cars that differed between the two marques only in their engines, front grilles (Rolls-Royce’s is flat, Bentley’s is curved), and of course their emblems (the Spirit of Ecstasy versus Bentley’s winged “B”).
The S2, produced by both Rolls-Royce and Bentley, was a massive success. Given the strong demand, Bentley authorized a handful of specialist coachbuilders to convert some into true Cabriolets. But these weren’t ordinary convertibles: the British marque required that the body retain its four side doorframes—a sophisticated engineering solution—and that the roof mechanism be fully electric.
This model is extraordinarily rare; it’s likely the only S2 Cabriolet available for rent in Italy, and a point of pride for our Rome-based fleet. It’s also one of our most popular wedding cars, so we recommend booking well in advance for your ceremony.
