The ultimate vintage car!
The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud is undeniably the marque’s most iconic car: the model that epitomizes Rolls-Royce, thanks to its status as the best-selling model. This Silver Cloud is also famed for having a twin: the Bentley S2 Cabriolet, which you’ll find in our fleet. Since Bentley was essentially the sister company to Rolls-Royce, they produced a virtually identical car, differing only in engine options and a few signature details.
The Rolls-Royce carries the famed Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, while the Bentley sports a winged “B”; and where the Rolls-Royce grille sits flat, Bentley’s comes to a pointed peak. Although Bentley’s chassis design evolved over time, today’s Rolls-Royce still preserves the historic features of its original form — especially in the Silver Cloud.
This model was produced from 1955 to 1959. It was a sedan measuring 5,384 mm in length, and it was closely related to the Bentley S1. It features a six-cylinder inline engine with a displacement of 4,887 cm³ and dual carburetors. The transmission is automatic.
The chassis is made of welded steel, with a particularly rigid configuration. At that time, the construction was still divided between a pressed steel frame and an aluminum body — a fully load-bearing monocoque structure wouldn’t appear until the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow.
