The Speed of the Ferrari Portofino
On September 8, 2017, Ferrari unveiled the Portofino as the successor to the California. The new model premiered at a global event attended by President Sergio Marchionne, Vice President Piero Ferrari and drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Sebastian Vettel, alongside Maurizio Arrivabene, CEO and team principal of Scuderia Ferrari’s Formula One outfit.
Today, the Portofino is hailed as the brand’s most versatile and accessible sports car. Ferrari says it’s not only more affordable but also more practical, offering increased rear-seat space, a larger trunk and more standard equipment than the California T. It’s 80 kg lighter than its predecessor and sits on an all-new front-engine chassis, complete with electric power steering and a third-generation electronic differential.

It develops 591 hp at 7,500 rpm and 560 lb-ft of torque between 3,000 and 5,250 rpm, while emitting 245 g/km of CO₂. The Portofino accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds.
Ferrari has also focused heavily on onboard comfort, fitting a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an upgraded climate control unit that improves both head- and foot-level comfort, a new steering wheel, and 18-way power-adjustable seats with redesigned backrests to enhance rear legroom. A dedicated passenger display adds another layer of refinement. All occupants benefit from a new wind deflector that, with the roof down, cuts cabin airflow by 30% and reduces aerodynamic noise, Ferrari says.
